Happy National Lipstick Day!

There are few things in the world that makes a woman feel more feminine than lipstick. In honor of this tiny piece of heaven, National Lipstick Day was created ( by the founder of Huda Beauty, I’ve been told). I love me some lipsticks! They are instant mood enhancements, inexpensive accessories, and complete every outfit! To pay lipstick it’s proper respect, here are a few of my favorite shades:

Revlon Super Lustrous Gloss in Cosmic Queen 108. (Sorry, this is discontinued.) Whenever I where this, I receive a ton of compliments! It’s definitely one of those eye catching hues. Beyond the color, I love the shine. The shinier, the better. I like for my lips to look like glass!

Marc Jacobs New Nudes Sheer Gel Lipstick in May Day 158. This is the perfect shade for fall. I adore its rich mahogany tone, and can usually be spotted wearing it with earth tones and knee-high cognac leather boots. I wear it when I want to release my inner Foxy Brown!

Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in Bare Affair. This is a great year-round shade. It’s color is just what the name suggests, barely there. For my skin tone, that means naked. Perfect.

Maybelline New York Super Stay Matte Ink in Explorer 105. One of my favorite colors to wear is deep blue. It looks chic, and pulled together in a mysterious kind of way. Pro Tip: When wearing blue, keep all other makeup minimal to keep the overall look from becoming costumey.

Maybelline New York Super Stay Matte Ink in Visionary 095. This shade looked best in Winter and Spring, as it lends its self to gray and lilac. It easily picks up either color I have on that day. Nothing like double duty.

Victoria’s Secret Liquid Color in Innocence. (Discontinued.) This color certainly was not made for the Black woman! However, once you add a full face of makeup, it really makes a soft statement. I wear this when I am wearing a head-to-toe blush look. Uber feminine.

Revlon Super Lustrous Cream Lipstick I’m Seduce Scarlet 310. The name has the word ‘seduce’ in it. No further questions, your Honor.

Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in Black Cherry 061. This shade is very sexy. It reminds me of the 90s R&B singers and backup dancers in the music videos. It’s also reminds me of my favorite singer of all time, Aaliyah. She always wore a dark lip. RIP Babygirl.
