3 Makeup Foundations for Summer

This year has been a beast, to say the least! From COVID-19, to the economic disaster, we have almost witnessed it all. Thus far, we have successfully (or unsuccessfully depending how you choose to see that old glass) managed to give up two seasons: spring and summer. Possibly another two seasons will be revoked by 2020 as well, only time will tell. But what we as women have NOT given up is makeup! Now that’s where I draw the line, dammit.
Since outside opened up shortly for what seemed like summer, I took advantage and loaded up on my cosmetics. I wasn’t going to be caught out there bare faced unnecessarily. Nah son. If you’re like me, which I’m sure you are, then I know that you, too, have different foundations for different seasons. With summer tending to be unbearably hot these days (thanks to that whole hole in the ozone layer that someone whom shall remain nameless likes to pretend isn’t there), it is imperative that my foundation is light as feather. Through much trial and error (and trust me when I say I have enough makeup to make Tammy Faye Baker jump for joy), I have narrowed down my top 3 choices for foundation, for now. Hopefully this list will save you both time and coins.

Covergirl Clean Fresh Skin Milk.

This by far is the absolute lightest foundation known to mankind. As in even lighter than tinted moisturizer creams, BB AND CC creams! Skin Milk is more of glorified pore blurrer. If you want that fresh-faced teenager look, this is it, as it has a dewy finish. It can also serve as a great primer if you find it to be a tad to light for your liking. With built-in hydration (the dewy part), there’s no need to pre-moisturize. And best of all, it’s clean and vegan!

L’Oréal Paris True Match Mineral.

This one is my fave hands down! It is everything I was looking for in a summer foundation. Light, medium coverage ( so you can still see my pretty skin shining through), and has its own built-in brush applicator. What more can a girl ask for (besides a good man)? Last year in the good ol’ days, I had been toying with the idea of mineral makeup, but didn’t want to spend a lot of money on it in case I didn’t like it. I stumbled upon this on a trip to Walmart, and haven’t looked back since. It goes on as a powder, and then transitions into a fluffy cream. Pure perfection. It literally takes about 20-30 seconds to put on, and you could be out the door. Bonus: it has sunscreen in it!

Burt’s Bees Goodness Glows Liquid Makeup

Burt’s Bees are one of the OGs in the clean beauty industry. This is exactly why I was inclined to give them a try. With their new extended hues, I was even more curious to check them out. After watching several YouTube reviews, I made my way to CVS. It was slightly challenging to find the shade closest to me, but I settled on Rich Brown, which will ultimately transition into a winter foundation for me ( it’s not quite deep enough, but I will order the correct shade online). Though it’s a full-coverage foundation, it is still light enough to wear in warmer weather. It also has a built-in moisturizer, so great for being able to skip a step in your morning skin-care routine. This also comes with a pump, making it easy to portion-control, and easily build it up if desired. The more I wear it, the more I like it, and will definitely be adding other products to the team.

Think Dirty App for makeup ingredients.

BONUS: For those of you that might be new to the clean beauty life (like myself), this app is a true game changer. Simply scan the product code and Think Dirty will generate a report called the “Dirty Meter.” From there, not only will it tell you the ingredients, but also make recommendations of products that are cleaner. Wow, right! Life just got good again.
